I have two friends and associates who live in Africa. They are in poverty. They need encouragement and help. They have no work and cannot get work. However they are capable persons. They could be doing something constructive or helpful in their community. Let us hire these men to do good works in that community. Let us use our money (which we have a lot of) to empower them (who have very little money) to bring improvements in the lives of those around them. While we are doing this, we would give these two men a wage for their work and allow them to afford an apartment and some dignity.
Read The Bible America, Inc. A valid 501 (c) (3) organization is trying to raise three hundred dollars a month with which to help each of them. We hope to get two hundred persons who would agree to give three dollars a month for three years. We are also looking for someone to do a special one-time fundraiser event in your area to create a pool of money, to create a fund to help their work with. Let us join ourselves together and help them in a big way.

Read the Bible America, Inc. has been around for 35 years. It represents my efforts as a minister on the streets of New York City with the homeless. We hold our meetings on the sidewalks and in the parks. We deal one-on-one with persons. We do not have and never have had much money. It is a ministry of love and compassion sharing spiritual things more than materialistic ones. Would you join us?
However, over the years I have received many of those scam emails from persons in Africa telling me how I could get ten percent of many millions of dollars if I would help them get access to money that was legally theirs but for various reasons they could not get without my help. You know what I mean. They are a rip-offs, frauds, and swindles trying to get you to give them information about your bank accounts so they can steal your money or your identity. If you ever get emails like that, do not ever respond to them.
However, as a Christian, a person who believes in God, and an American, I feel I am sincerely obligated to help my fellow human beings. Then one day while praying, I realized that maybe some of these persons are in desperation and they are doing what they are doing because they have no work and no income. A Great Compassion touched my heart. Maybe they cannot find any work where they live. Maybe they need my help rather than my hate. Maybe I could help one of them to get saved from needing to do that. Maybe they were hungry and scared more than they were evil.
Over time, I emailed back and forth with one of them several times. I challenged the honesty of what he was doing and asked why others had sent me the exact same story but with different names and I asked him other challenging questions. Eventually he came clean. He repented and asked me to forgive him, which I have done. Then he realized I really cared about him and wanted to help him in truth because I cared about him as a human being. Since then, we have become friends. My friend’s name is Michael.
He lives in the street. He has had many woes. He is very capable but has no provision. Things are poor there so it is hard to get work. In the past, he had to quit school because his mother had died and he had to help earn money and help to raise the other children and to help his father. I think eventually his father died also. He was older then and his siblings were older. He went to C'ote D'ivoire (The Ivory Coast) from his home country of Nigeria because maybe it would be easier to find work there. But as I understand it, he only gets work occasionally going around asking if some business has work for him and his friend to do. He moved from Nigeria his native country to C'ote D'ivoire where he now lives in the streets with a friend named Ugo. Michael needs to earn a high school diploma. Ugo has, I believe, some college or trade school experience.
I have hired them both as Religious Workers for my church but we do not have the money to pay them. We want to hire them to work for the church by helping persons in that country. There are surely plenty of persons in need. We must try to find something for them to do so they can have a living. Where there is a will there must be a way. I am hoping to either:
1. Help them to have enough money and support to start a small or micro business or
2. Help them be able to migrate here,
3. Even support them until Michael can get a high school diploma if that is possible.
4. Or, sponsor Michael to come to the US to finish high school or earn a GED.
5. Or, even hire these men to do good works in their area.
We could pay them to do things to help their neighbors. That is just an idea. However, if there is a way to make it work, it might be a great idea. To do this I need to create a base of support. I do not have very much myself but I could afford three dollars a month. In addition, I think many people in the US could afford that. I think if these men had Three hundred dollars, a month each they could afford to get an apartment, share it, and do any of the above mentioned things. I am looking for those who want to help by giving three dollars a month and also to get someone to do a major fund raising event in their community, either a dance or a street fair, or a community function. Something creative that gets many others involved and raises money.
You could do this. Would you consider doing this?
This would create a base of money for a fund to help these men. Then we also would try to get one hundred persons to donate three dollars a month for three years for each of these men. That means two hundred persons total at three dollars a month. If it works, we can start sending them this money and trying to help them. We would find some one like the church we have come to know through them who would administer the money. If we find it works and actually helps them to get out of the streets and to do well then we can try to get others to do it also. It might be a real meaningful way to help others in poor or emerging counties.
Through Michael, I have gotten to know of a church in that area called The Salvation Army. It is not connected to our popular The Salvation Army here in the US. That name is a common one for small Evangelical Churches in Africa. So God has established the circumstance where we could hire these men, find something for them to do worthwhile, and have this African church oversee what they do. God, I am sure is going to give us a way to transmit the money to them without it costing anything and is going to let us raise at first a lump sum of money to deposit in an account and have it exist as a base to finance whichever above option we chose.
We, Read the Bible America, Inc, are a 501 (c) (3) organization with that part of our Organization in Pennsylvania with recognition as such from the IRS. We also are a Church established in New York and having non-profit status there by statute. We are very small. For the most part the monies spent in our Church are monies I donate. I am a Busker, an actor, a professional street performer; I give about half of what I make to my church and help the homeless with it. Here though I need to find others to help, we need to raise a substantial amount, and we need to find two hundred persons who will give three dollars a month for three years to support this effort. In America, I believe it is possible to do.
If you know how to do fund raising and can hold an event, a major event in your area and get others involved I would be glad to hear from you how you can help. If you want to help but have never done this before I can help you do it with advice, information and via e-mail support and encouragement.
We are really looking for a volunteer fundraiser who would do this one time just because they wanted to help. We would be happy to set up several fundraising events in cities around the nation. From each of these we would like to get a base of money to start an individual fund. For each of these funds we would find persons in third world countries who we can hire to do community building and service work. Alternatively, to help them set up and establish a business to create jobs for themselves and hopefully create jobs for others, particularly in Africa and in Russia and the Soviet Union. We believe this is vital so that Russia will not fall back into some kind of dictatorial rule. That would be a great threat to world peace. Perhaps also we can do this in the Middle East. It would really fight terrorism. This can be one small effort to combat terrorism and promote peace.
If we are successful, it will be our policy to give 100% of the money raised to the fund that it is raised for and to not take anything for administering the funds or for our church’s use in our other charities. This might change if administering it becomes something that takes much time to do. Still then, we will seek to get that done without a cost involved. We like to see monies go for whatever persons have given it. However, we realize there are people who are good at fundraising and do it for a living. They deserve pay for what they do. It is a way to make a job for someone in our own nation. If you are a professional fundraiser, we would be glad for your help as long as most of the money raised goes to the cause.

We are being up front with you and candid so you know who we are and why we are seeking to raise this money. We believe strongly that we as a country and culture must help persons in emerging countries to find meaningful work for themselves. If we do not, there are going to be many idle persons in many countries and this is a breeding ground for terrorism and hatred for the US. It is also a waste of Human potential. In addition, people need jobs, work, homes, and these are must be met needs. We who have much are required to help those who have only a little. It is a moral and humane obligation we should take seriously. If we do not, we are wrong. However, America has always given. We have always cared and helped others. That is why I am optimistic that you will help and help faithfully for the next three years. This is a way to help, which would not be hard for those who are able, who want to help. It is three dollars a month, or the donation of your time for one fun, self-rewarding year setting up and running a major fundraiser event.
